Hardwood Refinishing Orlando

Refinishing Techniques

Picture
Let’s talk about what it takes to refinish a hardwood floor that has seen better days. There’s a list of steps we recommend. All time consuming. All require patience. All worth it in the end to see your floor shine and look like new.
First, prepare the wood for refinishing. Next, remove the shoe base molding. Then, to rough sand the floor. The next step takes a lot of time and care, rough-sanding the floor and then carefully sanding the edges and the corner. Next up, screen sand the floor. Following that, you’ll have to remove all the dust – so make sure you’re wearing a mask. We’re getting close to the end – apply the wood stain. And then, the final step – applying the finish.

The great news about hardwood floors is they generally last for the life of a home. While every day use will show, you can always opt to refinish. It’s a time-impressive process but if you follow each of the steps, it can be a rewarding project. It’s also tremendously rewarding to let the pros do it and you get to admire the final results

Cleaning Your Wood Floor

Not to be taken lightly! How you clean your wood floor means a lot of the future of your wood floor. We're listing the steps here and it's important to read them and share the information with your house cleaners.

Important Steps:
1. Sweep or vacuum the floor with a hard floor attachment to remove loose dirt.
2. Use a wood-safe cleaner with water
3. Mop your floor with the mixture. Try not  have excessive water - do not let liquid pool, which can warp and streak wood.
4. Gently scrub stains and shoe marks with a quality cleaner. If there's a stain that's hard to get out, use a toothbrush or sponge. Do not use steel wool or scouring pads to avoid scratches.
5. Rinse the water and enjoy the shine.

Noteworthy: If you're depending on a housecleaning service, be very clear with them about how you expect your floors to be cleaned. Don't leave it up to chance. If you walk them through the correct steps, you know that you've protected your investment.
